Carol Ann Polm, 76, of Lifeways at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, Wednesday, July 31st, 2019.

Born in Harrisburg on April 26, 1943, she was the daughter of the late David Leroy Smeltzer and Katherine Marie Serbieff. Carol graduated from Bishop McDevitt High school in 1961 and is a retiree from the New Cumberland Army Depot (Bldg. 64) in 1988.  Carol also worked extensively with the love of her life, her husband, Carter, in renovating blighted properties for underprivileged families.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Carol also loved working in the garden, and also had a great love for rescuing animals of all kinds. She loved spending time with her family, taking care of her pets, going out to restaurants, taking pottery classes, traveling to farmer’s markets, reading and studying the Bible. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Shepherd’s Chapel Church. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Carol was a humble, kind, generous woman. Her family adored her. She was a role model, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Above all, Carol loved her family.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Carter B. Polm of Lifeways at Messiah Village; and her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Wendy Augustine of Harrisburg, PA.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 9, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109.  Viewing will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial at Newport Cemetery will be private.
