June Margaret Sweger, 82, of Lower Paxton Twp., passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Jewish Home of Harrisburg. She was the widow of Alan Dale Sweger, whom she married September 21, 1952.
Born June 17, 1931, in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late J. Lloyd and Gertrude (Reed) Gambler.
She was a devoted member of Linglestown Life United Methodist Church where she was involved with many activities including the United Methodist Women.
June also enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle with her card club.
Surviving are 2 sons, Barry L. Sweger, and wife, Lori, of Harrisburg, and Steven L. Sweger of Lemoyne; 2 daughters, Shirley A. Monroe and Suzanne N. Staub, both of Harrisburg; a sister, Betty Leader of Camp Hill; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and her husband, June was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Viewings will be held Thursday, January 16, 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday, January 17, 10-11:00 a.m. at Linglestown Life UM Church. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 17, 11:00 a.m. also at her Church, 1430 North Mountain Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where June will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, will follow the service.
