Melanie S. Dennis (Miller), 59, was taken suddenly to be with her Lord on November 15, 2016.

Melanie was born November 27, 1956, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Martin M. Miller and Margaret L. Miller (VanAlstyne).

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Dennis of York Haven; her stepsons, Dwayne (Tina) Dennis (San Jose, CA), Dan Dennis (Cleveland, Ohio); grandchildren, Dahlen, Devyn, Dylan; and a brother, Michael (Catherine) C. Miller (Harrisburg).

Melanie attended East Pennsboro High School, a member of the state champion band front and graduated from Central Penn Business School as a Court Reporter where she then taught court reporting for many years upon returning to Central Pennsylvania with her husband Don.

Melanie loved her family, the Lord Jesus Christ, could never say no to an animal in distress, loved to go fishing with her dad and brother and was one of the most caring people to anyone that knew her.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 ESV)

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA, with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be a private family service.

Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111 in Melanie’s memory.

Melvin, this was suppose to be you writing my condolence! I am so happy I was able to see you last year. I miss you and all the fun and crazy things we did at Central Penn trying to teach all those youngsters. Mel, may God keep you close. I will always remember you and that great smile!

All of our deepest sympathies to the entire family. She will leave the deepest hole in my heart for a while. The Lord will fill it eventually with all our good memories. Our most fun was watching DWTS, Castle & then football (during the Fall). I will miss my friend/sister. Whenever anything is needed, NEVER, hesitate to call either Jeff or myself - we are here for all of you because you are family.

All our love, Beth & Jeff

I never met Mel but I worked as a scopist with her on team dailies for the last few years. She was always so sweet, never pushy, a gentle spirit, always helpful, and a real pleasure on our teams. I will miss working with her. I am glad that one day she and I will meet in the presence of our Lord - I hope you are finding joy and comfort to know that she is with Him now.
