Donald E. Dennis, 72, died November 21, 2016 after a long illness.

Don was born April 24, 1944, in Scranton, PA, the son of Arthur and Margaret Dennis.

He is predeceased by his wife, Melanie S. Dennis of York Haven and son Donnie Dennis Jr. (Cleveland, OH).

Surviving are sons Dwayne (Tina) Dennis, (Fremont, CA), Dan Dennis (Cleveland, OH), granddaughters Dahlen, Devyn, grandson Dylan, and sisters Karen (Mike) Pitts (Cleveland, OH) and Eileen Kotula (Yuma, AZ).

Don was a successful owner/operator of his own trucking company for many years in Ohio and then worked as a driver for Estes Trucking until his retirement in 2014.

Don loved spending time with his wife Melanie, his children/grandchildren and other extended family in Ohio.  Don was an avid sports fan with a great love of baseball and football.  Don actively played golf and team softball, drag raced stock cars and was a nationally rated bowler often on tour with Midwest league events.  His favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes even though Melanie was an avid Nittany Lion fan.

Don was absolutely devoted to his family and wife and was respected by his friends as an honest hardworking man who could never say no when asked for help.  He will be missed by all that knew him.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 ESV)

A memorial service is being planned for a future date.

My heartfelt condolences to the Dennis family. I did not know Donald personally but I understand how hard a time like this can be and I am sorry for your loss. May our Heavenly Father, who is the God of all comfort, give you the strength and comfort that you need (2 Corinthians 1:3). Our Heavenly Father understands your pain because he too has experienced the death of his beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Just as God resurrected his Son, he yearns to resurrect our loved ones as well (Job 14:14,15). I hope these words give you the comfort and peace you need during this difficult time.
